Switch for Mac

  -  143 MB  -  Demo
Switch for Mac lets you play a variety of web and professional media formats, inspect and adjust the properties of the file, and then export a new file. Designed for media professionals, It enables visual file inspection, single file transcoding and is an affordable software solution for professional media Quality Control.

Telestream continues to refine and improve playback and indexing performance within Switch for macOS. Particular attention was given to the performance of caption decoding and making sure It is making efficient use of file system reads and writes, as well as only decoding the data that is actually needed.

The ability to open files and play them back while they are still being written to disk enables live capture workflows that include previewing the quality of live video captures, extracting portions of the already written video for use in social media promotion of live productions, and the ability to confirm the media encoding of content coming from live capture systems.

The app is now capable of decoding and displaying OP-47 and OP-42 Teletext captions. This support maintains format parity with Telestream’s caption authoring tools MacCaption and CaptionMaker and will enable users to play back their captions and view them to confirm positioning, styling, and sync accuracy without the need for expensive hardware decoders.

New collaboration feature allows users to create and view flags on the timeline that contain comments, errors, or feedback. Share these flags between team members using a sidecar flags file to allow collaboration to occur without making any changes to the video. Simple to understand formatting of the flags document allows for automation systems to be able to create reports that can be reviewed and visualized on the timeline!

Affordable high-quality QC
With features such as professional audio meters with loudness monitoring, HDMI/SDI Output to an external monitor, easy media file comparison feature, and support for playback of captions, Switch Pro provides an affordable software solution for professional media Quality Control.

Caption playback and verification

What's new in this version:

New features:
Customer Requests:
- Added support for AJA Kona LHi

General:
- Added support for macOS Ventura 13

Improved:
- Customer Requests:
- Improved scrubbing performance. If the user is moving the scrubber to within 500ms of video, we will continue trying to seek to B-frames and P-frames. If the user has moved the scrubber more than 500ms away from the previous seek attempt, we will instead seek to the nearest I-frame. The user can also hold down the shift key while scrubbing to force Switch to seek to any frame. This can be helpful if they want precision scrubbing and their machine can handle it.
- Made it easier to passthrough Dolby-E by automatically setting the volume to full for external playout and muting it for desktop playback. This removes the need for the user to change a preference setting for analyzing audio to detect SMPTE 337M.
- Removed embedded web browser for purchasing via web store. This allows customers to buy with PayPal again, and avoids potential security concerns. Activation of Switch serial numbers can now be done by clicking on a hyperlink.
- Improved support for sending selected timecode to external devices

Fixed:
Customer Issues:
- a bug that prevented changes to the starting timecode and format for some secondary subtitle files from taking effect the first time they were changed
- a bug that caused halos around the borders between masked objects in videos with alpha channels on Mac
- a bug that, on rare occasions, caused some very large files to take a very long time to load
- a bug that prevented quadraphonic MOV/MP4 files from opening if they lacked a channel configuration
- a bug that caused TTML caption top/bottom placements to be swapped in Hebrew and Arabic languages
- a bug that prevented opening of UTF-16 SRT subtitle files
- a bug that prevented opening of files that contain AC-3 audio in little-endian byte order
