Google Sites for Mac is a cloud-hosted productivity application created by Google that allows users of all knowledge levels to create and edit websites both solo and in an online collaborative environment. And the best thing yet, since the app is focused on visual editing of website elements and backend features, it does not even require its users to be well versed in coding or other web-design skills.

This app is a part of Google Workspace - Cloud Business Apps & Collaboration Tools. It’s FREE for the first 14 days, Try Now!

Originally released to the public in early 2008 (after it was known in 2006 as JotSpot website editor for small-sized and medium-sized businesses, and Google Page Creator in 2007), this web app managed to evolve into the fully-featured website editor that can serve the needs of both home and business users.

After the complete redesign that Google Sites service received in 2016, the old web application was separated into the 'Classic' Google Sites, while the new official version moved to the full original set of services, backend features, and UI solutions that are not based on old JotSpot technology anymore.

Today, Google Sites for macOS allows users to create brand new websites with a responsive drag&drop interface that can automatically scale its elements for both desktop and mobile device usage (with real-time preview), support for multi-level menus, integration with many Google services such as Google Drive and Google Maps, collaborative editing with a level of permission access, domain name mapping, full controls for designing and editing all elements of a website layout, tools for embedding images, documents, videos, and much more.

However, all users of the modern version Google Sites should be aware that this latest version of website editor has lost support for many “Classic” features, including the ability to integrated numerous third-party gadgets extensions, integration with Google Apps Script and Google Tag Manager, no support for custom CSS, and no way to host Google AdSense ads.

Google Sites is offered for free to all Google Account holders and can be accessed from any modern web browser. The web app is optimized for the latest version of the Google Chrome browser and all of its Chromium derivatives.
