Itsycal for Mac is a lightweight and easy-to-use calendar application for macOS that was designed from the ground up to be reliable, unobtrusive, and easy to recall any time you need it. No matter what you are doing on your Mac, to access it you only need to click on its icon from the system status bar, activating a stylized popup window that features not only a calendar listing of a current month but also stylized visual indications for scheduled events and more. Below the calendar, the app will showcase scheduled events for the current day and also several upcoming events in the coming days. As a bonus, you can also toggle the calendar window using a built-in keyboard shortcut.

Installation and Use

Itsycal for macOS comes in a slim installation package that is only 1MB in size, and while it is running it will not put any strain on your CPU or RAM memory resources.

Calendar window features several sets of tools focused on both controlling the view and managing the scheduled tasks. Monthly calendar listing can be controlled with the arrow icons in the top-right part of the window, while task management is located on the bottom bar. Date listing can be customized to showcase calendar weeks and rearrange the list according to the desired 1st day of the week (you can pick any day, not only Sunday or Monday like in many other calendar apps).

The easiest way to manage your daily events is to click on the desired day and add a scheduled task. Each task can consist of the name, text description, duration (all day toggle or specific start and end time markers), repeat schedule, alert type and task type selector (Work, Family, etc.). Calendar events can also be imported from local, Google and Apple cloud sources.

Keyboard shortcuts for triggering the appearance of the popup calendar window can be customized, but the remainder of the shortcuts is fixed and includes shortcuts for listing previous/next day, week, month and year, jumping to today’s listing, managing events, and more.

What's new in this version:

Itsycal 0.15.3
- You can set a custom beep-beep-on-the-hour sound. Place a file called beep.mp3 in Itsycal's Application Support folder: ~/Library/Application Support/com.mowglii.ItsycalApp. If you have selected `Beep beep on the hour` in Settings, this custom file will play instead of the default sound.

Fixed:
- Fix: Go to Date can be invoked with the "return" key - you don't have to click the button
- Fix: Addressed a crash in the rare case that an event's attendee name is set to nil
- Fix: A hack to address corrupted window drawing on macOS Sonoma when the user has multiple monitors and a large number of events in the agenda
- Fix: Long calendar names wrap in the General Settings calendar list

Itsycal 0.15.2
- Go to Date (shift-command-T) provides a quick way to navigate to an arbitrary date
- Itsycal has a URL scheme: itsycal://date/DATE which will open Itsycal at the DATE specified in yyyy-MM-dd format. Instead of DATE use now to open Itsycal to today.
- Fixed a bug where Itsycal wasn't opening the Date/Time System Preference panel correctly on macOS 13+
