Ludwig for Mac is a lightweight but incredibly capable text creation utility and office tool that can help users to very quickly find alternative phrases and sentences, helping them to more easily increase the quality of their writing and familiarize themselves with contextualized examples taken from reliable online sources.

Even though this application is focused only on one singular tool, it manages to effortlessly help countless users to improve their writing skills and become familiar with different sentence constructions, discovers synonyms, and learn about techniques that can make their texts sound more natural, professional, and easily approachable. This is especially true for users who are learning the English language. Seamlessly integrated with any writing and reading app on your computer: Word, Pages, Google Docs, Gmail, Adobe Acrobat... Enjoy!

Even though this tool relies heavily on online searching of examples that complement your sentence entries, it still requires a comprehensive set of local files that have increased the installation size of this app to a bit under 100 MB. The app can be installed by simply downloading the installation package and following a simple set of on-screen instructions. After the installation is complete, Ludwig will become an active part of your regular macOS sessions, always running in the background and ready to be brought to the active state with a keyboard shortcut or click on its taskbar icon.

Ludwig's desktop app for macOS is seamlessly integrated with your workflow and allows you to conveniently search on Ludwig from any single app on your computer, without having to switch applications. It doesn’t matter if you are writing on Word, Gmail, Google Doc, Pages or if you are reading a PDF or a website, once you highlight a piece of text and hit Ludwig’s shortcut key, Ctrl+⇧+L (⌘+⇧+L on the Mac version) — a convenient window, showing you Ludwig’s examples, will appear.

Each result features the marker of the source where it was detected (for example online websites of news magazines, technology blogs, and others), a button for audio reproduction of the found sentence, and a button to expand the found example into a larger size for closer examination.  Just remember that Ludwig is a desktop tool that regularly probes online databases, so it has to have an uninterrupted connection to the internet. It will not work as intended on offline Macs.

In the settings area, users are allowed access to only a modest set of tools – selector for allowing the app to run on Mac startup, windows resize option, and setting of its global keyboard shortcut.

Ludwig for Mac can be used for FREE in its basic form, which allows only a limited amount of searches per day and a limited amount of results per each search. This and many other limitations are removed with the purchase of the Premium version in monthly, yearly, or even longer subscription periods.
