Features and Highlights

Directory Assistant
Access your recent, favorite, and open folders from DFX's toolbar. Hierarchical pop-up menus let you quickly navigate through folders to get to your files.

Real Time Saving
If you're constantly saving things inside the same folder, DFX can remember that folder for you. Or you can set it as the default folder for an application so you're in the right folder from the start.

Finder Management
DFX lets you open up or save to any Finder window with a single click. It also lets you get info on, duplicate, rename, and delete existing files, putting the Finder's power in every Open and Save dialog.

Instant Recall
To help you quickly return to folders and files you've used recently, DFX remembers them for you. It even re-selects the last file you opened. With DFX, you'll never forget where you put something.

At Your Fingertips
Get places fast by using keyboard shortcuts for your favorite folders. Or jump to recent folders and open Finder windows with a keystroke. DFX's shortcuts are completely configurable.

Spotlight on the Spot
Tag your files or edit your Spotlight comments from within any Open or Save dialog. Don't remember what tags you used before? DFX shows you all of your recently used tags - just drag and drop.

What's new in this version:

- The Finder-click feature works with Path Finder 26
- Finder-click distinguishes between panes in Bloom windows when Bloom's "Precise Location Detection" setting is enabled
- Worked around a bug in macOS Tahoe where file dialogs in column view don't scroll to the right to show the current folder
- Fixed a problem with Default Folder X getting confused if a file dialog is opened and then dismissed very quickly
- Resolved an issue with recent items not including files and folders located in OneDrive for Business folders
- In Save dialogs, you sometimes had to double-click on folders twice to open them. This has been fixed
- Rebound correctly remembers the last selected file in column view
- Fixed a crash when opening items in the Finder drawer
- Eliminated an intermittent crash when building hierarchical menus for folders containing lots of items
- Fixed a crash that occurs when one of Default Folder X's helper apps can't be accessed within its application bundle
- The Calibre eBook app is included in Default Folder X's exclusion list because it doesn't correctly support the macOS Accessibility API and may crash (this is a bug in Calibre).
- Playable audio and video previews in Open dialogs are disabled by default because the macOS AVPlayer crashes frequently in macOS 26.4 and higher. To turn them back on, hold down the Option key while choosing Settings from Default Folder X's menu, then turn on the "Show playable audio and video previews" checkbox.

Added a preference to always start with the filename in Save dialogs unselected. Use this command in Terminal:
- defaults write com.stclairsoft.DefaultFolderX5 saveNameStartsUnselected -bool NO
