MS Word, OpenOffice, etc. try to be all things to all people, but sometimes you just want the right tool for the job. That is Bean's niche.
The app has some limitations: it doesn't do footnotes or use stylesheets and is only partially compatible with Word's file formats. Also, it allows in-line graphics, but not floating graphics.

What's new in this version:
Changed:
- The View > Split Horizontally | Split Vertically menu items now have a symbol to demonstrate the orientation of the split
- In the menu bar, View > Full Screen is now Full Screen (Focus Mode) since Bean does not use Apple’s native full screen function
Fixed:
- Selecting View > Full Screen (Focus Mode) now hides the “notch” because it could obscure document text . This applies to MacOS 12+ on Apple computers that have visible camera housing (i.e., the notch).
- Improved the code for determining the origin of the text ruler, which is language dependent
- Improved the code that restores the visible text range after various changes
