Sometimes latest versions of the software can cause issues when installed on older devices or devices running an older version of the operating system.

Software makers usually fix these issues but it can take them some time. What you can do in the meantime is to download and install an older version of Fission 2.8.0.

What's new in this version:

- Full Support for MacOS 12 (Monterey). Fission now has full compatibility with the MacOS 12 (Monterey)
- Improved Resampler. Fission's sample rate converter has been overhauled, and now provides greatly improved conversion quality
- Exporting to Apple Lossless, FLAC, AIFF, and WAV now offers advanced “Dithering” settings
- The Composer and Grouping tags are now supported for FLAC files
- To prevent issues with other applications loading AIFF files, Fission no longer preserves old HFS Type/Creator codes
- Fission now avoids preventing the Mac from sleeping, except when it's actively playing audio
- Fission now correctly shows the “Compilation” tag, even if it does not conform to specs
- The Export window no longer incorrectly throws an exception with certain custom formats and sample rates
- Clicking in the Export window no longer incorrectly shifts content visually
- A change made in Fission 2.7.1 that worked around a performance issue with the QuickLook feature in MacOS has been reverted. Unfortunately, that change led to issues with the Music and QuickTime Player apps. At present, QuickLook does not properly preview chapterized AAC files. This will require a fix from Apple
- Fission now requires MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) or higher. If you're still on 10.13 (or lower), be sure to see our Legacy page
