Sometimes latest versions of the software can cause issues when installed on older devices or devices running an older version of the operating system.

Software makers usually fix these issues but it can take them some time. What you can do in the meantime is to download and install an older version of Airfoil 5.12.2.

What's new in this version:

- Preliminary Support for macOS 15 (Sequoia) Betas. Airfoil will no longer warn every launch when run on macOS 15 (Sequoia). There are no known issues on Sequoia at present, but do note that these betas remain in flux. To avoid problems, we always encourage users to stick with Apple’s official (non-beta) OS releases.
- Return of the “Text to Speech” Special Source. The “Text to Speech” special source has returned, to capture speech audio from applications which do not directly play generated speech (typically triggered by the “Start Speaking” command in the “Speech” menu) via their own process.
- Improvements to Special Sources. The “Siri” special source now correctly includes sound effects on macOS 14 (Sonoma), and the “VoiceOver” special source has been optimized to capture only necessary processes.
- If you’re running the latest version of Airfoil when you check for an update, the resulting information screen now provides a helpful “View Release Notes” button
- Capture of audio played to secondary devices by VOIP applications has been improved
- When Airfoil Satellite for Mac is receiving audio sent from an iOS device via AirPlay, remote control actions like play/pause no longer trigger an exception
- Improvements have been made to the error shown when Airfoil tries and fails to connect to an Airfoil Satellite instance which requires a password
- A crash which could occur due to the former “System Audio” source being renamed “System-Wide Audio” has been fixed
- Improvements have been made to Airfoil’s debug logging
