Sometimes latest versions of the software can cause issues when installed on older devices or devices running an older version of the operating system. Software makers usually fix these issues but it can take them some time. What you can do in the meantime is to download and install an older version of TinkerTool 5.1.

What's new in this version:

- To further strengthen its top position as most innovative preference utility of its kind, TinkerTool is now running inside Apple's application sandbox. The tool is the first program of its category to use this security technology.
- The pane Login Items has been removed because it is no longer useful for the latest operating system versions. Modern OS X installations start the items simultaneously, independent of their visible order, and also use additional mechanisms such as Resume and invisible launch entries which have influence on the start sequence during the login phase.
- When working with font defaults, the tool now differentiates clearly between the actual Lucida Grande typeface and the new screen system font introduced with OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
- The preference setting to enable copy operations for text displayedby Quick Look has been reinstated for OS X 10.9.1 and later.
- The storage space used by the preference reset feature has been reduced significantly.
