    This is a review of the “Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 2020 Personal Edition [Mac Download]” typing tutorial software.

    I purchased it for use with my new Apple Mac Mini computer running the macOS Big Sur 11.1 operating system and using the Safari 14.0.2 browser.

    However, contrary to the product description that this software is compatible with Mac’s Big Sur operating system…

    “Macintosh System Requirements
▪ Runs-on OS’s Catalina and Big Sur
    ▪ Browser version: Safari 14.0 and later”

    …it has far too many bugs to be usable.

    Here are the problems I encountered just in the beginning lessons:

    1) The link to the User Guide does not work so there is no way to get instructions on how to use the program.

    2) Some other links are incorrect and took me to unintended sections of the software. For example, in the "Lesson History" tab, the link for the "Chameleon Game" goes to practice sessions instead of to the Chameleon Game. This is a shame because the Chameleon Game is a fun and effective way to practice the early lessons but once I had done it the first time, there was no way to return to it to practice some more.

    3) There is no way to go back to a previous lesson. For example, if I went to “Lesson History”, it showed the "asdf" and "jkl;" practice sessions that I had already completed so I could go back and practice them some more, but it did not show the lessons I had done that introduced the letters "e i u r g h”, so I had no way of returning to them for more practice.

    4) The program quit unexpectedly and kicked me out of the software on two separate occasions, with an error message advising that Apple has been notified automatically.

    5). There is NO Technical Support offered by telephone and when I submitted a Technical Support Help Ticket, I got no response.

    This might be a pretty good typing tutorial, but if your Mac is using the new Big Sur operating system, be aware that it does not function as intended.

    the Mac version of this is absolutely horrible. So many bugs and problems it's crazy. I have had pervious versions of Mavis but this is absolutely horrible.

    I never did get this program to load/open on our computer and try as I might, I was never able to find any product support. I ended up using a free app to teach my son to type. A complete waste of money!! Do not buy this product.
    I would give this zero starts if that was an option.
